The School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University seeks qualified faculty members at the rank of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, and Research Assistant Professor to join its dynamic faculty of more than 90 members drawn from some 20 countries or regions.

Duties:

The appointees will be required to:

  • conduct research as the main duty and actively pursue external research grants as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator;
  • provide minimum teaching (usually one course per year) at the undergraduate or postgraduate level;
  • contribute to departmental service, and
  • perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of the School or his delegates.

Applicants should have:

  • a minimum of Ph.D. or an equivalent doctoral degree in Hospitality, Tourism, Business, or in a related discipline;

(b)    a strong track record or potential for undertaking high-quality research for publications in top-rated journals and research grant writing;

  • a demonstration of the potential for excellent teaching and
  • excellent English communication and writing skills.

Preference will be given to candidates with two or more years of postdoctoral research experience at the time of appointment.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service:

A highly competitive package including a medical benefits plan and a gratuity payable upon completion of the term which is normally for two years initially, with the possibility of extension.  Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.

In addition to a highly competitive compensation package, a start-up research fund can be provided to the qualified appointees.  Appointees are paid on a monthly basis for 12 months annually and the appointment normally starts on 1 August of each year.
