TTRA is a leading international professional research association combining both practitioners and academics with an interest in tourism research. Founded in the USA, today TTRA has chapters in North America, Canada, Europe and now the Asia-Pacific. The Association provides networking and sharing opportunities for travel and tourism research professionals, and has a strong, effective collaborative network. TTRA APac has been established as a place for all those interested in travel and tourism research in the region (or of the region) to come together. The Association membership comprises DMO research managers, industry research users, ‘vendors’ (research consultants), academic researchers and post graduate students.

The 5th annual conference of TTRA APac will be held in one of the most exciting international destinations, Hong Kong, hosted by School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. We are pleased to invite research focused practitioners and the academic community to submit their ideas and concepts for sessions and papers at the 5th annual conference of TTRA Asia-Pacific.

The theme of the 5th annual conference is Leveraging Tourism Sustainability in Asia-Pacific through Research and Practice and we invite submissions focused on one or more of the following sub-themes:

  • Travel as a lifestyle
  • Movie tourism/Contents tourism
  • Tourism and Popular and New Media
  • New generation travellers: the Millennials and Centennials markets in Asia-Pacific
  • Sustainable tourism development in emerging markets
  • Women in Tourism
  • Collaboration in Action: bringing practitioners and academics together
  • Innovators and disrupters in tourism


While papers that reflect the theme of the conference are preferred, general papers will also be considered. 

Extended Abstracts of Research Papers (Academic and Practitioner):

 

Academic research paper: please provide a 500-750 word extended abstract. Please follow the submission guidelines of Journal of Travel Research on format and make sure to include a title page (showing names, affiliation, and contact information of all authors, as well as the title of the manuscript) and the body of your extended abstract (including abstract, key words) with NO identifier information.  Please refer to the attached template.

Practitioner focused research: please provide a 500 word abstract with Title, Introduction, Method, Results and Conclusion and Relevance to Industry. Please provide THREE keywords.

Submissions due by SEPTEMBER 1, 2017
Submission Format:  Word Document
Submit to: Scholarworks
Notification of Acceptance: October 15, 2017

Submission of final manuscript: November 1, 2017
