Journal of Travel Research



The Journal of Travel Research (JTR), published six times each year, is the premier, peer-reviewed research journal focusing on travel and tourism behavior, management and development. The first scholarly journal in North America focused exclusively on travel and tourism, JTR provides researchers, educators, and professionals with up-to-date, high quality, international and multi-disciplinary research on behavioral trends and management theory for one of the most influential and dynamic industries.

As a Lifetime, PartnerOrganization, or Premier member of the Travel and Tourism Research Association, you receive a complimentary online subscription to the Journal of Travel Research. You can access the JTR on SAGE Journals by following the instructions below. Once activated, you will be able to view and search all online issues.



Instructions for Activating JTR Online Access

  1. You will need your ttra member ID to activate JTR online access – if you do not know your ttra member ID email
  2. Go to the SAGE Journal Subscription Activation page.
  3. Enter your ttra member ID in the field provided.
  4. Select "Travel and Tourism Research Association (TTRA)" from the drop-down menu list.
  5. Click "Submit" and follow the prompts on the screen.
  6. On the "Instructions" page, check your personal data and enter a username and password (be sure to write down your selections so you can access your journal in the future).
  7. Click "Submit" to confirm the activation.
  8. Once complete, return to the Journal of Travel Research and start accessing content

Q: I received the following message when I went to activate my account and all the information I entered is correct - The Customer Number that you have given is not currently in our list of subscribers. Please check that the number is correct and that you have selected the correct society, if applicable.

A: Our membership lists are updated eight times per year.  It is possible that you are not on the most recent list. Please email to confirm your membership status. If you are a member, we will add you to the list. Updates to the list are typically done overnight. You will receive a confirmation email when your account has been created.
